❌ Don’t leave your laptop plugged in 24/7!

❌ Don’t regularly drain the battery below 20%

🔋 Laptop batteries: small habits, big difference

Modern laptops use lithium-ion batteries, and how you treat them day-to-day has a huge impact on lifespan and performance.

Here are a few simple do’s and don’ts we regularly explain to customers:

❌ Don’t leave your laptop plugged in 24/7

Keeping a battery at 100% all the time places constant stress on the cells, especially if the laptop runs warm. Over time, this reduces capacity and shortens battery life.

❌ Don’t regularly drain the battery below 20%

Deep discharges put extra strain on lithium batteries. Doing this repeatedly accelerates wear and can lead to sudden shutdowns later on.

✅ Aim for the ‘sweet spot’

For everyday use, try to keep your battery between 20% and 80% where practical. This is where batteries are happiest.

✅ Unplug once fully charged (when you can)

If you’re working at a desk for long periods, charge up, unplug, and let the battery cycle gently rather than sitting at 100% all day.

🔥 Heat is the silent killer

Heat damages batteries faster than almost anything else. Make sure vents are clear, avoid soft surfaces, and don’t leave laptops cooking on charge.

A few small changes can easily add years to a laptop battery’s usable life, and save you from an expensive replacement down the track.
